Karachi Bans Heavy Traffic on Jinnah Avenue for Smooth Flow
In a major move to improve road safety and traffic flow, the Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has announced a complete ban on heavy vehicle movement along Jinnah Avenue, stretching from Super Highway (M-9) near Saima Pari Classic and Rufi Global City up to Malir Halt and Shahrah-e-Faisal.
The decision, issued under Section 144 of the CrPC, follows a request from the DIG Traffic Karachi and recommendations by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA). The restriction aims to ease congestion and enhance commuter safety on key city routes.
According to the notification, heavy vehicles must now use the alternate Link Road (Eastern Bypass) route from Kathore via Sassi Toll Plaza to National Highway (N-5) during allowed hours.
“The move is to ensure smoother traffic and safer roads for citizens,” officials stated.
The new rules will remain effective for the same duration as the earlier order issued on October 17, 2025, covering all areas within Karachi Division.
