The Board of Secondary Education Karachi has delayed its annual matriculation exams at the last moment. The decision came after serious issues with admit cards created confusion across the city. Thousands of students were preparing to appear on April 7, but uncertainty forced officials to step in and revise the schedule.
On Sunday, the board officially announced that the exams will now begin on Friday, April 10. Officials said the move was taken in the wider interest of students, as many were unable to access essential documents.
More than 350,000 students were affected by the problem. Many did not receive their admit cards on time. As a result, they also remained unaware of their assigned examination centers.
Earlier, the board stated that admit cards were uploaded to its online portal on Saturday evening. However, the system did not perform as expected. When private and government schools tried to download the cards, many faced technical issues. Some schools reported error messages, while others received incomplete documents.
As the situation worsened, confusion spread among students, parents, and school administrations. This growing concern pushed the board to take urgent action late Sunday.
In a notification issued the same night, the board accepted the issue and introduced an alternative plan. Schools that cannot download admit cards online can now collect them physically.
According to the update, heads of affiliated schools or their representatives can collect admit cards from Monday, April 6. The timing is set for 9:00 am. The collection point is the conference hall on the first floor of Block B at the board office. However, an authority letter must be presented for verification.
