Karachi’s long-awaited IT Park is taking shape as a major technology infrastructure project aimed at expanding Pakistan’s digital economy, supporting startups and increasing the country’s information and communication technology (ICT) exports.
The Establishment of IT Park, Karachi, is being developed by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) near Jinnah International Airport. The Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) lists the facility as under construction, with a covered area of around 1.145 million square feet across six acres.
The facility is planned to include corporate offices, incubation and co-working spaces, a data centre, research and testing facilities, an innovation hub and university-industry collaboration areas. It is expected to accommodate companies working in software development, IT-enabled services, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech and data analytics.
Government documents have previously described the project as an 11-storey facility comprising eight floors above ground and three underground levels. The project was approved at a total cost of $186.658 million, with financing provided through Korean funding and Pakistan’s public-sector development allocation.
Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal also highlighted the project on social media, describing it as a flagship E-Pakistan initiative under the Uraan Pakistan programme. According to his post, the planned technology campus will cover around 1.18 million square feet and include 220 offices and 30 startup spaces.
The Karachi IT Park is expected to create around 15,000 jobs and generate up to $100 million in ICT exports. Earlier government estimates had projected employment opportunities for more than 20,000 IT professionals.
The project is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen its technology infrastructure, increase ICT exports and provide startups and technology companies with modern facilities.
However, the project has faced delays. In June 2026, the National Assembly’s IT committee raised concerns over its progress and sought a detailed report on its status, challenges and completion timeline.
With the facility now listed as under construction, the Karachi IT Park is expected to become a major technology hub for Sindh and contribute to the development of Pakistan’s growing digital economy.
