Karachi Police Constable Caught Red-Handed in Vehicle Theft Operation

KARACHI: The Anti-Vehicles Lifting Cell (AVLC) of Karachi Police arrested a police constable on Thursday for reportedly leading a group that stole expensive cars from the city’s posh areas.

According to AVLC SSP Bashir Ahmed Brohi, the gang stole many expensive cars, including an SUV belonging to a television actress.

According to the police statement, a constable was found in possession of the actress’s car, another vehicle snatched from Ferozabad, an official weapon, and narcotics.

The suspect and his accomplices were allegedly involved in the theft of two Toyota Fortuner SUVs from different locations: one from Korangi on June 26, 2024, and another at Bukhari Commercial DHA on October 7, 2024, according to the AVLC SSP.

According to a police official, “after an encounter, Quetta police arrested one suspected member of the gang and recovered that vehicle from their possession.”

Rana Kashif, the constable who was arrested, allegedly admitted to taking twenty-plus cars from wealthy neighborhoods to sell them in Balochistan.

Also, on February 6, 2025, a group from Khayaban-e-Mohafiz in DHA stole a Toyota Fortuner from a prominent TV starlet, according to AVLC.

Also, it was found out that the gang took a Suzuki Alto from a person with a gun in the Ferozabad area last year. The car was later found and returned to the gang.

The thief also confessed to stealing more than twenty high-end vehicles. Raids are being carried out by the police in an effort to arrest any remaining gang members and seize more stolen automobiles.
