Karachi Traffic Police Brings E-Challan System to Smartphones
The Karachi Traffic Police has rolled out a new mobile app, Tracks Citizen, to make traffic management more transparent and efficient. The app is designed to give motorists instant access to their vehicle details, e-challans, and traffic violation history.
Available on both Android and iOS, the Tracks Citizen app lets users log in using their CNIC. Once signed in, all vehicles registered under their ID automatically appear on the dashboard. Users can view fines, check violation records, and receive real-time notifications about traffic offenses.
The app sends alerts in two stages: first, a warning message, followed by an official e-ticket. This system ensures that users are immediately informed about their violations and penalties.
The launch comes shortly after Karachi introduced its digital e-challan system, which collected over Rs. 12.5 million in fines within six hours. During this time, authorities issued 2,662 e-challans for various offenses.
According to official data, 419 challans were issued for overspeeding, 1,535 for not wearing seatbelts, 166 for red-signal violations, 507 for helmetless riding, and 32 for mobile phone use while driving. Other violations included tinted windows, wrong-way driving, stop-line breaches, and illegal parking.
Officials said the digital system aims to strengthen road safety and improve public compliance through greater transparency. The Karachi Traffic Police believes Tracks Citizen will help citizens stay aware of their traffic records while supporting smarter enforcement across the city.
