Kareemabad Underpass Project Nears Completion In Karachi
Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has said the Kareemabad underpass project can be completed within a month once the relocation of K-Electric utility lines is finalized, offering relief to commuters facing persistent traffic congestion in the area.
During a late-night visit to the project site, officials briefed the commissioner that nearly eighty-five percent of construction work has already been completed. Authorities explained that the remaining portion of the project is stalled due to pending relocation of K-Electric lines, which must be shifted before final construction can resume.
The Kareemabad underpass is a key infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic flow and supporting commercial activity in the surrounding locality. To address the delay, Commissioner Naqvi has called a meeting with K-Electric management and directed the Deputy Commissioner Central to ensure coordination among relevant departments for faster execution.
The commissioner stressed that early completion is essential as ongoing delays are causing traffic disruptions and affecting nearby businesses. “All hurdles must be removed without further delay to restore smooth movement and economic activity in the area,” he said.
