In a move to enhance digital access for students, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has introduced a free laptop scheme for students across the province. The announcement was made by KPK Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who pledged that the percentage of laptop recipients in KPK would match that of Punjab.
The chief minister pledged that the percentage of laptop recipients in KPK would be on par with those in Punjab, ensuring equitable access to digital resources for students.
“If Punjab provides laptops to a certain percentage of students, we will do the same,” Gandapur said. He addressed the Punjab government to reciprocate by providing free health insurance cards similar to those available in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He emphasised the province’s healthcare achievements, stating, “We have given our entire population the Sehat Card Plus and are now offering life insurance.” He asked the Punjab administration to provide comparable advantages to its inhabitants.
Gandapur also stated that his administration had grown revenue by 55% despite financial difficulties, contrasted with Punjab’s results. “Punjab’s revenue increase is just 12%. “Let them raise it to 55% like us,” he remarked. “Punjab’s revenue growth is only 12%. Let them increase it to 55% like us,” he said.
Regarding fiscal management, he claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a budget surplus of Rs176 billion and was the only province to satisfy International Monetary Fund (IMF) objectives. “Punjab was given an IMF surplus target of Rs300 billion but instead recorded a deficit of Rs146 billion,” he noted.
The chief minister also pledged financial assistance for disadvantaged brides, claiming that the province government will arrange the marriages of 4,000 worthy females, with each receiving Rs200,000.
