KP Doctors Promotion Exam: Only 16 Pass, Raising Training Concerns

Published by

In a startling revelation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) announced the results of the Health Department’s promotion exam for 248 BPS-18 posts, revealing that only 16 out of 1,147 doctors successfully passed. The exam, which saw only 245 candidates appear for the written test, has raised serious concerns over the quality of medical education and training in KP.

Among the successful candidates are Aleina Ali Shah, Mahwish Adil, Palwasha Rauf, Sidra Jabeen, and Babar Nawaz, representing districts including Peshawar, Karak, Malakand, Mansehra, DI Khan, Shangla, Swat, Orakzai, Haripur, and Swabi.

KPPSC has instructed all successful doctors to submit their documents by February 10, 2026, using the official Documents Submission Proforma. Late submissions will not be entertained. Candidates who failed the exam can review their detailed marks online. While rechecking or reevaluation is not allowed, applications for re-totaling are accepted within 15 days, with a Rs 500 challan per paper.

Experts say the extremely low pass rate with over 80% of candidates failing  highlights urgent deficiencies in medical training in the province. “These results reflect systemic gaps in medical education standards, which need immediate reform to ensure competent healthcare professionals in KP,” said a senior health official.

With the province’s health sector already facing challenges in staffing and quality services, the government may need to implement stricter oversight and reforms in medical colleges to improve training outcomes and prevent such alarming results in the future.
