KP Government Ignites Digital Revolution with Innovation Hub and Tech Centers for Youth

Peshawar: In a major step towards strengthening the province’s digital infrastructure and promoting technological innovation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art Innovation Hub at the University of Peshawar, along with Digital Connect Centers across all divisional headquarters.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Friday. The meeting focused on enhancing higher education and IT development in KP and was attended by Special Assistant to the CM for IT Shafqat Ayaz, secretaries of the higher education and IT departments, and other senior officials.
According to the plan, the Innovation Hub will be developed within the University of Peshawar’s existing Incubation Center building. The facility will comprise 22 private offices together with two sizable event halls along with conference rooms and co-working spaces, which create a complete environment for startups, IT companies, young entrepreneurs, and others to collaborate.
The new multipurpose facility will produce Rs. 60 million in yearly income for the educational institution. Officials emphasized that every fundamental service needed for innovation development and business growth will be found within a single facility.
The government received principal authorization for Digital Connect Centers to operate from each divisional headquarters. These initial facilities will operate from rented spaces where young people can use IT parks and co-working areas and modern computer equipment for training sessions.
Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to digital transformation. “We are determined to create a tech-friendly ecosystem and equip our youth with cutting-edge opportunities,” he stated.
He further directed relevant authorities to expedite the implementation of both projects, with the potential to replicate the Innovation Hub model at other universities if successful.
