The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a short spring break for educational institutions along with a weekly work-from-home policy for government offices, as part of new steps to cut fuel use and manage resources more carefully. The measures will come into effect from March 24 and are expected to remain in place for the next two months or until conditions improve.
According to an official notification issued by the Establishment and Administration Department (Cabinet Wing), all government offices across the province will observe complete work-from-home on Fridays.
The move is aimed at reducing fuel consumption linked to daily commuting, while ensuring that official work continues without disruption.
Alongside this, a spring break has been announced for all public and private educational institutions in the province. However, the relief for students will be brief. Officials clarified that examinations conducted by boards and universities will continue as scheduled, and will not be affected by the break.
Due to the already existing weekend holidays from Friday to Sunday under the current arrangement, the actual impact of the spring break will be limited to four days.
