Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced the introduction of ethics as a formal subject in the provincial school curriculum, emphasizing the need to combine education with character building. The announcement was made during his visit to a government school in Peshawar, as the provincial government moves to strengthen education standards and student development.
Speaking to teachers and students, CM Sohail Afridi said education without training is incomplete. He stressed that teaching ethics will help develop responsible, principled, and successful individuals, adding that moral education is essential for long-term social progress. He assured that curriculum reforms will focus on both academic learning and personal development.
The chief minister directed authorities to install CCTV cameras in all public schools to enhance security and monitoring. He also ordered that missing facilities in government schools be provided on a priority basis. In addition, he instructed officials to ensure that free textbooks are distributed to students at the start of the next academic session, preventing delays that affect learning outcomes.
CM Afridi said school administrations and teachers must focus on improving the quality of education in public sector institutions. He assured that the provincial government would actively address shortcomings and support schools in meeting required standards.
Last month, despite financial constraints, the chief minister announced plans to establish two new universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Arshad Sharif University and another institution in the Khyber tribal district, reflecting the government’s broader commitment to expanding access to education.
