The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government is considering expanding the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit network to additional districts as part of efforts to strengthen public transport across the province.
Officials revealed that proposals are under review to extend the BRT system from Peshawar to Charsadda, Nowshera, and Khyber District, aiming to improve regional connectivity and commuter access.
The proposals were discussed during a high-level meeting of the Planning and Development Department chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, where development projects for the upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026–27 were reviewed.
In addition to expansion plans, the meeting also evaluated proposals to procure new electric buses for the BRT fleet and introduce double-decker electric buses to support tourism and modernize public transport infrastructure.
Officials noted that these initiatives are designed to promote sustainable transport solutions, reduce congestion, and enhance travel facilities across the province, particularly for residents in underserved districts.
The proposed expansion reflects the government’s broader strategy to improve urban mobility and provide efficient, eco-friendly transportation options throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
