Last week, Lahore Qalandars announced the retention of four players, reducing their squad to comply with the new four-player retention limit under the revised PSL rules framework.
Qalandars retained Shaheen Afridi in Platinum, Abdullah Shafique in Diamond, Sikandar Raza in Gold, and Mohammad Naeem in Silver, leaving no Emerging player and creating space for auction signings.
The franchise released their premier fast bowlers, Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan, while in the batting department, Qalandars also released opening batter Fakhar Zaman.
Yesterday, three-time champions Islamabad United signed New Zealand batter Devon Conway for Rs. 6.30 crore, joining captain Shadab Khan, Andries Gous, and Salman Irshad ahead of the PSL 11 auction.
Meanwhile, Karachi Kings confirmed the direct signing of England allrounder Moeen Ali for Rs. 6.44 crore, who will join their squad as they prepare for PSL 11’s first ever auction based player draft.
Karachi Kings also retained four key players: Hasan Ali in Platinum, Abbas Afridi in Diamond, Khushdil Shah in Gold, and Saad Baig in Emerging.
PSL 11 introduces a new teambuilding approach, replacing the old draft with an auction, as franchises reinforce squads through retained players and direct signings before the bidding begins.
