Lahore Board

In Lahore, hundreds of matric students were denied entry to their mathematics exam on Monday after arriving late at examination centers under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore. The gates were reportedly closed at 9 a.m., the scheduled start time for the paper.

The situation unfolded amid heavy rainfall across the city, which caused severe traffic disruptions and delayed students on their way to exam centers. Parents voiced frustration, saying that the weather conditions should have warranted some leniency. “Our children were delayed because of the rain, not negligence  the board should have allowed a few extra minutes,” said one parent outside the Lawrence Road center.

However, BISE Lahore officials maintained their stance, emphasizing that the reporting time for all exams was 8 a.m. and no entry was permitted after 9 a.m. “Rules are the same for everyone. Students must arrive within the specified time,” a board representative stated.

The incident has sparked public debate on whether examination boards should show flexibility during unavoidable weather disruptions.
