LDA Enforcement Drive Seals 54 Commercial Buildings Across Lahore

Published by

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sealed 54 commercial properties across key areas of Lahore for failing to pay mandatory commercialization fees. The action was part of a citywide enforcement drive aimed at curbing illegal commercial activities and ensuring compliance with urban planning regulations.

According to LDA officials, the Town Planning Wing carried out enforcement operations in Canal Road, Gulberg, Model Town Extension, Azam Garden, and New Muslim Town. Properties sealed during the operation included private schools, clinics, salons, restaurants, grocery stores, food points, shops, and offices that were operating commercially without paying the required charges.

Officials confirmed that 25 properties were sealed along Canal Road, 19 in Gulberg and Model Town Extension, while 10 were sealed in Azam Garden. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Chief Town Planner Asaduz Zaman, with teams from the LDA Enforcement Wing and police deployed on-site to maintain order.

An LDA official stated, “These actions are being taken against illegally commercialized buildings that have repeatedly failed to comply with regulations despite notices.”

LDA regularly conducts such operations to regulate unapproved commercial activities in residential zones. Authorities say unpaid commercialization fees not only violate planning laws but also place additional strain on city infrastructure, including roads, parking, and drainage systems.

The latest crackdown reflects LDA’s renewed focus on improving urban management and ensuring that commercial entities contribute legally to city development.

Separately, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq visited Salman Park in Nishtar Town and Atta Baksh Road to review ongoing development projects. Officials briefed him on road upgrades, new tiling work, and improvements to parks and streets in the area.

The DG directed teams to enhance stormwater drainage at Salman Park and improve the overall design of Atta Baksh Road. “Our goal is to upgrade public spaces and develop Salman Park into a model facility while maintaining high construction standards,” he said.

Authorities added that similar development and maintenance work is underway across other public properties in Lahore as part of a broader infrastructure improvement plan.
