The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has launched a strict enforcement drive against consumers generating electricity beyond their approved solar power limits, cancelling licenses of those found in violation.
With the rapid rise in solar installations across Pakistan, regulatory authorities have been closely monitoring compliance with NEPRA-approved generation limits. LESCO’s latest move aims to ensure fair energy distribution and maintain grid stability as more consumers adopt solar energy systems.
According to officials, several residential and commercial consumers had installed additional solar panels without authorization, producing electricity far above their licensed capacity. The company identified these violations through Maximum Demand Indicator (MDI) readings during a routine audit.
A LESCO spokesperson stated:
“Consumers must adhere to their approved load limits. Any excess generation disturbs the grid balance and violates both NEPRA and LESCO regulations.”
Formal notices and license cancellation actions have now been initiated to curb unauthorized solar expansion. Authorities emphasized that compliance is crucial to maintaining a stable and sustainable energy network in Pakistan’s growing solar sector.
