Dolby Laboratories and LG Electronics have unveiled a major step forward in home audio with the launch of the LG Sound Suite, a modular system that introduces the world’s first soundbar powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. Announced ahead of CES 2026, the collaboration marks a meaningful expansion of Dolby’s immersive audio technology into a more flexible and consumer-friendly category of devices.

At the center of the new platform is the H7 soundbar, which uses Dolby Atmos FlexConnect to deliver immersive, room-filling sound without the complexity traditionally associated with surround sound systems. Instead of requiring precise speaker placement, extensive wiring, and manual calibration, the LG Sound Suite allows users to place wireless speakers anywhere in the room. The system then intelligently analyzes speaker positions and room layout to optimize audio performance automatically.

In its simplest configuration, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect lets users connect wireless speakers directly to a TV or through the H7 soundbar and position them based on their space and décor. As listening needs evolve, the setup can be expanded with additional components such as the M7 and M5 surround speakers and the W7 subwoofer. The modular system supports up to 27 possible speaker configurations and can scale to a full 13.1.7-channel home theater experience.

Flexibility extends beyond speaker placement. When the H7 soundbar acts as the primary device, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect can work with virtually any television. LG has also confirmed plans to enable the feature on its premium 2026 TV lineup and select 2025 models via a future software update. This approach ensures users can enjoy high-quality immersive audio even without owning a Dolby Atmos-enabled TV.

For many consumers, premium home audio has long meant tangled cables, rigid layouts, and compatibility issues. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect aims to remove those barriers by automatically tuning sound to match each environment. John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, said the collaboration with LG delivers premium audio that fits seamlessly into everyday life without the complexity of traditional systems.

LG complements this vision with a modular design philosophy and AI-driven tuning. According to Lee Jeong-seok, head of LG’s Media Entertainment Solution Company Audio Business Division, the goal is to offer cinematic sound from any seat while allowing users to personalize their setup.

The launch comes as Dolby Atmos content continues to expand across films, streaming platforms, music, sports, and gaming. LG Sound Suite will debut publicly at CES 2026 from January 6 to January 9, offering a glimpse into a future where immersive audio adapts to living spaces, not the other way around.
