The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered a halt to the collection of additional premium by LPG companies, issuing a stay order against the practice and seeking replies from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and license-holder companies.
According to media reports, the counsel for the petitioner told the court that LPG companies were collecting additional premium in an illegal manner.
He argued that the collection of additional premium from marketing companies was against the law.
Responding to the arguments, the court remarked that gas is a basic need of the common man and cannot be left at the mercy of companies. The stay order restrains LPG companies from continuing to charge the additional premium until further proceedings.
The court has directed OGRA and the license-holder companies to submit their responses in the matter.
