Los Angeles Comic Con to Feature Stan Lee Hologram
Los Angeles Comic Con will debut a Stan Lee hologram, allowing Marvel fans to interact with the legendary creator in digital form. The experience will take place in an enclosed booth at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where attendees can meet the virtual version of the late icon.
The Stan Lee hologram brings back the co-creator of beloved superheroes such as Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor. Dressed in a green sweater and tan pants against a bright blue background, the hologram recreates Lee’s familiar look for fans. Lee, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 95, continues to be celebrated worldwide for his impact on comics and pop culture.
Chris DeMoulin, CEO of Comikaze Entertainment, the company behind Los Angeles Comic Con, said the project is part of efforts to extend Lee’s influence. “It was obviously sad for many of us when Stan passed,” DeMoulin said. “For the last couple of years, we’ve been exploring ways to preserve his legacy and create an entry point for new fans.”
The project was developed around six months ago through a collaboration between Proto Hologram, whose technology has promoted films such as The Conjuring and A Minecraft Movie, and Hyperreal, an AI company specializing in lifelike digital humans.
The hologram was trained using Lee’s numerous public appearances at fan conventions and red carpets. Many fans also know him from his cameo roles in every Marvel live-action film released during his lifetime. With this innovation, Los Angeles Comic Con aims to give attendees a chance to reconnect with Stan Lee in a memorable way.
