A major section of the national motorway has been temporarily closed after authorities announced urgent repair work on a high-voltage electricity transmission line, causing disruption for all types of traffic between Rahim Yar Khan and Rohri.
The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) confirmed that the motorway section from Iqbalabad/Rahim Yar Khan Interchange (KM 559) to Rohri (KM 386) has been closed to ensure public safety during maintenance work on a high-voltage power line passing over the route.
According to officials, the closure applies to all vehicles, and motorists have been advised to avoid the affected stretch until the repair work is completed.
An NHMP spokesperson said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure.
“The motorway has been temporarily closed to prevent any risk to commuters during power line maintenance. Drivers are requested to follow alternative routes and cooperate with traffic authorities.”
The police also apologized for the inconvenience and urged travelers to plan their journeys in advance and strictly follow detour instructions.
Motorway closures for power infrastructure maintenance are periodically carried out to prevent accidents and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. This particular section is a key link for inter-provincial transport, and delays are expected, especially for commercial traffic, until normal operations resume.
Authorities have assured that the motorway will be reopened immediately after the repair work is safely completed.
