MediaTek has unveiled its new flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500, which promises major improvements in AI, gaming, and efficiency.
The chip uses Arm’s latest CPU cores with an “All Big Core” design, led by a 4.21 GHz Arm C1-Ultra core. MediaTek says it delivers 32% better single-core and 17% better multi-core performance than the Dimensity 9400, while cutting peak power use by up to 55%. It also introduces Armv9.3 with SME2 instructions for faster AI processing.
On the graphics side, the new Arm G1-Ultra GPU offers 33% higher performance and 42% greater efficiency. Ray tracing gets a huge boost with twice the hardware units and up to 112% faster results, supporting 120 fps gameplay with interpolation.
AI is at the center of the Dimensity 9500. Its ninth-generation NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0 doubles compute power and supports large model processing with lower power use. MediaTek claims 100% faster output on 3B-parameter LLMs, 128K token handling, and 4K image generation, all while reducing peak consumption by more than half.
The chipset also debuts the Imagiq 1190 ISP, capable of 200MP capture with continuous focus at 30 fps and 4K 60 fps portrait video. For connectivity, it delivers 10% lower 5G power use, 20% lower Wi-Fi power use, and 50% less latency with AI-driven congestion prediction.
Set to rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Dimensity 9500 will power upcoming flagships such as the Oppo Find X9 Pro and Vivo X300 later this year.
