MediaTek Chipsets

MediaTek will take the stage in China on January 15 for a launch event that could reshape its smartphone chip lineup. The company is widely expected to introduce two new processors, targeting different performance tiers and audiences.

One of them is the Dimensity 8500, a chip that has circulated in leaks for months. It follows the Dimensity 8450 and 8400, both popular in the upper-midrange segment. The announcement now feels inevitable. Honor has already revealed the Honor Power2, which runs on the Dimensity 8500. That move effectively confirmed the chip before MediaTek made it official.

The second chipset remains less clear, but rumors in China point to a new 9-series model. It may be called the Dimensity 9500s. This processor is said to use TSMC’s N3E 3nm process and feature an all-new CPU design. The setup reportedly includes one Cortex-X925 core clocked at up to 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at up to 3.3GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.4GHz. MediaTek is also expected to pair it with a Mali G925MC12 GPU operating at 1,612MHz.
