Meezan Bank Appoints Dr. Syed Amir Ali as New President & CEO

Meezan Bank Limited has officially announced a major leadership change. The bank appointed Dr. Syed Amir Ali as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This appointment is effective immediately, starting December 30, 2025.

Dr. Syed Amir Ali previously served as Deputy CEO and CEO-designate. Notably, he brings an extensive academic and professional portfolio to the role. He recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration. Consequently, he is one of the youngest banking leaders in Pakistan to hold a PhD.

His credentials include:

  • Chartered Accountant (Gold Medalist)
  • CFA Charterholder
  • MBA (Gold Medalist)
  • LL.B.
  • Certification in Software Engineering
  • Alumnus of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School

Dr. Syed Amir Ali takes the helm from Mr. Irfan Siddiqui. Notably, Mr. Siddiqui is the founding President and CEO of Meezan Bank. He has successfully led the bank since its inception. Consequently, this marks a significant shift in the bank’s top management.

The bank shared this development in a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange. In the announcement, Meezan Bank’s Board of Directors expressed deep appreciation for Mr. Siddiqui. They praised his visionary leadership and tireless efforts.

Furthermore, the Board credited Mr. Siddiqui’s pioneering role. They stated he was instrumental in laying the foundation for Islamic banking in Pakistan. Additionally, his commitment drove the bank’s remarkable growth over the years.

Although he is stepping down as CEO, Mr. Siddiqui is not leaving the organisation. He will continue to serve as a member of Meezan Bank’s Board of Directors.
