Meta Fixes Bug That Exposed Users Ai Prompts

Meta AI’s mobile app has seen a dramatic surge in downloads and daily active users following the launch of its ‘Vibes’ AI-generated video feed last month. According to data from Similarweb, daily active users on iOS and Android soared to 2.7 million as of October 17, up from just 775,000 four weeks earlier.

Meta introduced the ‘Vibes’ feed on September 25, 2025, allowing users to browse short-form AI-generated videos directly within the Meta AI app. This move appears to have reignited public interest in the platform amid growing competition from other AI video generators, particularly OpenAI’s Sora, which recently topped App Store charts.

Similarweb’s analysis also showed that Meta AI’s daily app downloads jumped to 300,000 per day, compared to under 200,000 just weeks ago a significant leap from only 4,000 daily downloads recorded in October 2024.

Experts suggest the spike could be due to both Vibes’ viral appeal and OpenAI’s Sora being invite-only, pushing users to explore Meta’s freely available alternative.

A Similarweb spokesperson noted:

“While we can’t confirm direct causation, the timing of Meta’s Vibes rollout aligns closely with the surge in app engagement and downloads.”

The report further revealed that Meta AI’s global daily active users increased by 15.58%, while competitors such as ChatGPT, Grok, and Perplexity saw declines of 3.51%, 7.35%, and 2.29%, respectively.

With the success of Vibes, Meta AI appears to be positioning itself as a strong contender in the emerging AI video generation space, capitalizing on user curiosity and market momentum.
