Mobile Services to Remain Operational in Pakistan During Youm-e-Ali Processions

Muslims in Pakistan will observe Youm-e-Ali on March 22 to honor the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA), the fourth caliph of Islam. Authorities have strengthened security measures while ensuring that mobile services remain available during the processions.
In Karachi, a high-level meeting led by Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, and Additional IG Police Javed Alam Odho reviewed arrangements for the main procession of Youm-e-Ali (RA). Law enforcement will protect procession routes in accordance with measures established at the meeting, as well as deploy surveillance equipment to achieve public safety goals.
In Lahore, the Punjab government has decided to keep mobile services operational during the 21st Ramadan processions, ensuring uninterrupted communication for the public. 8,000 police officers and other workers will be stationed across the city to protect processions, conduct strict surveillance, and control traffic flows in order to prevent threats.
Security plans for this year will exceed prior standards since the government remains committed to protecting all event attendees. The Sindh government declared a public holiday for education institutions across the province on March 22 to commemorate Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (RA). Sindh’s academic institutions, both public and private, as well as colleges and universities, must suspend classes on Saturday, March 22.
Youm-e-Ali (the 21st of Ramadan) is a significant event that necessitates appropriate planning, as indicated by the official notification for public and optional holidays in 2025. The academic year will resume on Monday, March 24th .
In order to ensure the safety and correct organisation of Youm-e-Ali, the authorities conduct continuous surveillance. In order to guarantee the safety of the events, the authorities urge citizens to collaborate with their security personnel and adhere to the established regulations.
