Motorway Police Launch Special Plan for Heavy Eid Traffic

Published by

With Eid approaching and traffic expected to surge on highways across Pakistan, motorway police have announced a special enforcement strategy to ensure smooth and safe travel.

Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against lane violations on all motorways during the busy holiday period.

Key Lane Rules for Motorway Drivers

  • Cars and light transport vehicles (LTVs): must drive in the middle lane
  • Rightmost (third) lane: reserved only for overtaking by small vehicles
  • Passenger buses and heavy vehicles: must stay in the leftmost lane
  • Heavy and passenger vehicles are prohibited from using the third lane

Officials added that drivers who repeatedly violate lane discipline will face heavy fines and legal action under motorway regulations.

The special plan aims to reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and keep traffic flowing smoothly during peak Eid travel days, when millions of people journey between cities.
