Muhammad Amir Malik Appointed to Lead Global Tech Initiatives at IT Ministry

The federal government has appointed Muhammad Amir Malik as the new Member (International Coordination) at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. The announcement, issued by the Establishment Division, confirms that the Prime Minister has approved his appointment under the MP-I scale, the highest tier of the Management Pay Scales.

This appointment highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s international engagement in the digital and technology sectors. Malik will serve on a three-year contract beginning from the date he assumes charge, under the terms outlined in the MP Scales Policy, 2020.

In his new role, Malik will lead Pakistan’s coordination with global technology companies, international digital platforms, multilateral institutions, and development partners. His portfolio includes promoting cooperation in emerging technologies, ICT infrastructure development, cybersecurity, digital trade, investment facilitation, and human capital partnerships. He will also focus on advancing cross-border innovation and digital collaboration.

The appointment comes as Pakistan works to accelerate its digital transformation, boost IT exports, and attract foreign investment in the technology ecosystem. With global attention shifting toward cybersecurity and digital governance, Malik’s role will be crucial in helping Pakistan strengthen its presence in the global digital economy.
