The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on IT and Telecom recently held a tense meeting. During the session, Committee member Dr. Zulfiqar heavily criticized the Ministry of IT. He directly attacked the Ministry’s ongoing claims regarding the growth of IT exports.
Dr. Zulfiqar explicitly stated that the government has no right to claim this success. Instead, he pointed out that poor freelancers are actually increasing IT exports by working day and night. Furthermore, he expressed his sheer frustration with the government’s narratives. He mentioned that his ears are completely tired of hearing about the IT Ministry’s alleged role and performance.
The IT Secretary attempted to deflect this criticism. The Secretary argued that the private sector drives IT exports all over the world. However, Dr. Zulfiqar immediately dismantled this excuse. He questioned how the Ministry is encouraging the private sector. Consequently, he highlighted that IT investors are constantly facing severe roadblocks and receiving zero support from the authorities.
To prove the Ministry’s negligence, Dr. Zulfiqar shared his own experience with the NA standing committee. He stated that he personally submitted several proposals for IT projects. Moreover, he called the IT Secretary directly to discuss them. Unsurprisingly, he received absolutely no response.
