The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued new guidelines clarifying the procedure for correcting or changing dates of birth on birth certificates in Punjab. Authorities stated that any such change will now require a formal court order from the relevant local government body.
Under Punjab regulations, date-of-birth changes on birth certificates can only be approved through orders issued by the Union Council, Cantonment Board, or Municipal Corporation court.
NADRA officials said applications without these legal documents will not be processed.
Citizens seeking correction must submit:
- Official court order from the relevant authority
- Computerized Birth Registration Certificate (CRC)
The updated policy applies specifically to birth certificates issued in Punjab.
With stricter verification requirements, NADRA aims to prevent misuse and ensure accuracy in civil registration records. Citizens have been advised to follow the revised legal process before applying for any date-of-birth correction.
