The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has warned citizens about fake cash reward claims being spread through misleading videos on social media, urging the public not to fall victim to online fraud.
In an official awareness message, NADRA said the videos circulating mainly in the Saraiki language are falsely using the name of former NADRA chairman Usman Yousuf Mubin. The clips claim that citizens holding CNICs with his signature are eligible to receive cash prizes, which NADRA has completely denied.
“These videos are fake and are part of a deliberate attempt to mislead and exploit citizens,” NADRA stated.
The authority clarified that NADRA does not offer cash rewards based on CNIC signatures and never announces such schemes through unofficial social media platforms. Citizens have been advised to verify information only through NADRA’s official website and verified social media accounts.
Officials noted that the spread of such misinformation highlights the growing challenge of digital scams targeting vulnerable communities. NADRA urged people not to share personal information, CNIC numbers, or OTP codes with unknown sources.
