The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has unveiled Nishan Pakistan (NP), a unified digital platform designed to modernize and standardize identity verification services across Pakistan. The platform aims to streamline verification for government entities and regulated private organizations, enhancing efficiency, security, and regulatory compliance.
Previously, identity verification services were handled through fragmented, semi-digital, and largely manual processes. Multiple approvals, repetitive documentation, and siloed systems often caused delays, inconsistencies, and limited transparency.
Nishan Pakistan: Features and Benefits
Nishan Pakistan provides a single digital gateway for onboarding, subscription, and secure access to NADRA’s identity verification services. Key features include:
- Multi-biometric verification APIs (Fingerprint and Facial Recognition)
- Verisys for demographic and identity verification
- Proof-of-Life API
- Single Sign-On (SSO) for secure system access
Banks, microfinance institutions, telecommunication companies, and other regulated organizations can now efficiently verify citizen identities while ensuring compliance with NADRA’s regulatory framework, including data minimization and purpose limitation.
Launched under the Government of Pakistan’s Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), Nishan Pakistan is particularly valuable for social welfare and public service programs where timely and accurate identity verification is critical.
