NADRA Rolls Out Online Biometric Verification for Vehicle Transfers in Sindh
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), in collaboration with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department, has launched a new online biometric verification system aimed at simplifying the process of transferring vehicle ownership across the province.
Under the new system, buyers and sellers can complete biometric verification remotely through their mobile phones using NADRA’s Pak-ID application, reducing the need for physical visits to registration centers during the initial stages of the transfer process.
The verification process involves confirming identity through fingerprints or facial recognition using a smartphone camera. Once the biometric verification is successfully completed, both parties are required to visit the relevant excise office to finalize the transfer and complete the remaining legal documentation.
Officials say the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve transparency, prevent fraud, and make public services more accessible. By using digital identity verification, the system ensures that both buyers and sellers are properly authenticated before a transfer is approved.
The Sindh Excise Department plans to implement the biometric requirement in phases. Initially optional, the verification will gradually become mandatory for all vehicle ownership transfers across the province.
Authorities believe the move will help streamline procedures, reduce long queues at excise offices, and enhance the overall efficiency and security of the vehicle registration system.
