NADRA to Launch Self-Service Kiosks for CNIC Renewal Nationwide

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced plans to install self-service kiosks across Pakistan to simplify the renewal and re-issuance of CNICs, aiming to make the process faster and more convenient for citizens.

Long queues and waiting times at NADRA centers have long been a major public concern. To address this, the authority is turning to automation and digital solutions that allow citizens to manage identity services independently.

Speaking at Data Fest 2025 held at the Pak-China Friendship Centre, NADRA spokesperson Shabahat Ali said the new kiosks will enable users to capture their own photographs and thumb impressions without the need for data entry operators. This initiative reflects NADRA’s commitment to modernizing citizen services and enhancing accessibility nationwide.

Ali highlighted that over 85% of Pakistan’s population is already registered in the national database, and the organization continues to expand coverage through 256 mobile registration vans, focusing on underserved and remote communities.

He added,

“Our goal is to make identity services seamless, accessible, and efficient for every citizen through innovative technology.”

The initiative also aligns with the government’s broader Digital Pakistan vision, aimed at integrating tech-based solutions to improve governance and public service delivery.
