The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three suspects involved in child pornography and other online crimes against children, using artificial intelligence tools to identify them.
Addressing a press conference, NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Mir said the agency has stepped up action against online crimes involving children. He said AI-assisted techniques have made the operations against pornography far more effective.
In one of the key operations, NCCIA officers arrested a man in Kasur who had been sending obscene material to a foreign woman on Snapchat.
Mir said the agency has also carried out successful raids on illegal call centres, arresting several foreign nationals. In a separate action, NCCIA teams traced organised groups involved in financial fraud through bank accounts and arrested their members.
Responding to questions on the case of national cricketer Mohammad Rizwan, Mir said his mobile phone has been sent for forensic examination. Further details will be shared once the forensic report is received.
Mir said the NCCIA’s crackdown on child-related online crimes and cybercrimes will continue without discrimination.
