The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has established special units to counter “anti-state propaganda and fake news” and has made cyber patrolling units functional in all regions to monitor cyberspace, the agency said on Sunday.
An agency spokesman said Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi reviewed the measures during a five-day tour of all circles in Punjab. He inspected reporting centres, police stations and offices, and met more than 500 complainants directly.
The DG directed officers to make the complaints and verification system more people-friendly and to use all resources to deliver prompt justice. He said the agency follows a zero-tolerance policy on fake news and anti-state propaganda, with no compromise on merit and transparency.
During the visit, he reviewed the overall working of each circle, including pending complaints and cases, the investigation branch, complaint cell, FIR branch and record maintenance, along with other administrative and professional matters.
He stressed timely justice for cybercrime victims and merit-based, transparent investigations. He instructed officers to improve performance, complaint disposal and record keeping.
