NEPRA Announces 48 Paisa Per Unit Cut in Power Tariffs Nationwide

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a reduction of Rs. 0.48 per unit in electricity prices across Pakistan, providing much-needed relief to consumers amid rising inflation.

According to the official notification, the reduction has been approved as part of the Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) for September 2025, following a request by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA). Initially, CPPA had proposed a 37-paisa cut, but NEPRA approved a higher reduction.

The price cut will reflect in November electricity bills, benefitting consumers nationwide  including those in Karachi under K-Electric though lifeline consumers are excluded from this adjustment.

An energy sector official stated,

“This reduction shows the regulator’s commitment to passing on the benefits of lower fuel costs to the public in a transparent manner.”

The move comes as global fuel prices have shown signs of stabilization, allowing NEPRA to ease consumer costs while maintaining fiscal balance in the power sector.
