Neue Klasse Arrives: BMW iX3 Enters Pakistan Market

Published by

BMW has formally introduced the iX3 in Pakistan, marking the local debut of the brand’s next-generation electric vehicle philosophy known as “Neue Klasse”, through its authorized importer Dewan Motors.

Rather than being a conventional electric version of an existing model, the iX3 represents BMW’s broader shift toward purpose-built electric mobility. The company has positioned the vehicle as the foundation for its future EV lineup, built from the ground up rather than adapted from internal combustion platforms.

What “Neue Klasse” Means for BMW

The term “Neue Klasse,” originally used by BMW in the 1960s, is being revived to describe the company’s strategic reset in the electric era. The modern interpretation centers on three core principles: electric performance, digital integration, and sustainability.

According to BMW, the iX3 is the first model developed entirely around these pillars, reflecting a move away from transitional EVs toward dedicated electric platforms.

Technology and Engineering Highlights

At the core of the iX3 is a centralized high-performance computing system that integrates vehicle dynamics, power delivery, and driver assistance into a single processing unit. BMW states that this architecture enables smoother and more responsive driving behavior compared to conventional EV systems.

The vehicle also uses cylindrical battery cells integrated directly into the chassis, a design approach intended to improve energy efficiency, structural strength, and overall ride quality.

Range and Charging Capability

The iX3 offers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 805 kilometers, placing it among the longest-range electric vehicles currently available in Pakistan.

It supports 400 kW DC fast charging, allowing for significantly reduced charging times under optimal conditions, although charging infrastructure at this capacity remains limited locally.

Digital Interior and Panoramic Display

One of the most noticeable changes is BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system, which replaces the traditional dashboard with a full-width digital display. The interface integrates navigation, media, and driving information into a single visual plane, reflecting BMW’s shift toward a more immersive and minimal interior design.

Pricing and Booking Details

Dewan Motors has announced special launch pricing for January 2026, targeting early buyers in the luxury EV segment.

Payment Component Amount (PKR)
Total Price 374,000,000
Booking (10%) 37,400,000
Letter of Credit (36%) 121,176,000
Arrival at Port (54%) 116,328,960
Remaining Amount 99,095,040

Final pricing may vary depending on duties and taxes, placing the iX3 in an estimated Rs 4.5- 5.5 crore bracket.

Market Position in Pakistan

The iX3 is aimed at a niche luxury audience, including sustainability-conscious executives, technology-focused buyers, and long-distance EV users who prioritize range and performance.

While the model offers lower maintenance costs compared to internal combustion vehicles, its high price point and Pakistan’s limited high-speed charging network may restrict broader adoption.

By introducing BMW’s next-generation EV platform rather than an older electric model, Dewan Motors appears to be testing whether Pakistan’s luxury market is ready for cutting-edge automotive technology. The iX3 is less about volume sales and more about setting a benchmark for what future electric vehicles in the country could look like.
