New Leak Claims Ubisoft Developers Despise Assassin’s Creed Invictus

Published by

Ubisoft is facing new controversy surrounding its upcoming multiplayer project. A prominent leaker claims the development team behind Assassin’s Creed Invictus actively dislikes the game. This standalone title was first revealed in 2022. While the franchise’s recent instalment, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, received a positive reception, reports suggest internal morale regarding Invictus is dangerously low.

Internal Discontent & “Fall Guys” Comparisons

Streamer and leaker j0nathan shared these explosive details. He claims a source within the development team contacted him directly. This source states that they “don’t know a single colleague who likes Invictus“. Reportedly, only managers continue to praise the project. The developers allegedly feel “disgusted” to be working on it.

The leak compares the gameplay loop to Fall Guys. It describes a succession of trials leading to a final “Top 1” winner. Furthermore, the source criticises the visuals heavily. They describe “ridiculous animations” and “hideous” characters with Fortnite-style graphics. The developer allegedly questions the target demographic. They speculate the game targets six-year-olds to drive revenue through microtransactions, noting they pity parents who will be “harassed for money”.

LEAK ASSASSIN’S CREED INVICTUS: the devs hate the game!

I presented it to you some time ago, Invictus will be a sort of “Fall Guys” version of Assassin’s Creed, a game that’s a bit “funny” with Fortnite-style graphics with a succession of trials that will lead to the famous Top 1.

I told you the concept was trash and that the game was probably going to flop. Well, I have a person from the development team who contacted me to tell me that even they don’t believe in it at all and that they are all disgusted to be working on this piece of junk.

Here are their words: “I don’t know a single colleague who enjoys Invictus. Only the managers will probably continue to smile and praise the merits of this project.

It’s awful: ridiculous animations, hideous and caricatural characters (their faces are just as awful), idiotic sound and visual effects, combat arenas… the concept is simply appalling. I wonder who this game is intended for and why it was created. Maybe it is solely intended for children… of six years old? I have no idea. If that is the case, I pity the parents of these children who are going to be harassed for money to fuel a new wave of microtransactions.”

Assassin’s Creed Invictus: Gameplay Shifts & Conflicting Reports

Invictus reportedly abandons the franchise’s traditional stealth focus. The leak describes the inclusion of “combat arenas” and “idiotic sound effects”. Alleged game modes include 16-player free-for-all, deathmatch, and parkour speed challenges. This marks a massive departure from the series’ roots.

However, not all insiders agree with this bleak picture. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming rebuffed some of these claims regarding visuals. He stated that early impressions looked like a standard Assassin’s Creed game with slightly reduced fidelity, rather than a cartoonish clone. Henderson noted that a Fortnite-style would require drastic changes since his last viewing. He also cautioned fans against trusting a single, potentially disgruntled source.

Ubisoft has not released official images to confirm these reports. Fans must wait for concrete details. In the meantime, unconfirmed rumours persist regarding 60 FPS upgrades for older titles and a potential remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
