Pakistan has made a major stride in energy exploration, with 40 new oil and gas reserves discovered during the tenure of the current federal coalition government. Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, informed the National Assembly that 18 of these reserves are already operational, contributing to the country’s energy security.
According to the minister, the operational reserves are yielding substantial output. By December 2025, natural gas production from these fields reached 61 million cubic feet per day, while oil output stood at 1,553 barrels daily. These developments are expected to strengthen domestic energy supply and help reduce dependence on imported fuels.
The remaining 22 discovered reserves are currently under processing. Once operational, these fields are projected to further boost Pakistan’s energy production capacity, enhancing economic stability and supporting industrial growth.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik emphasized that these discoveries reflect the government’s commitment to advancing the country’s energy infrastructure, making energy more accessible and cost-effective for both consumers and industries.
