The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially released a new timetable for public schools. This notification outlines significant changes for primary education institutions across the province. Today, March 30, 2026, marks the beginning of these new school timings and updated operational standards.
Primary schools will now begin their daily sessions at 7:30 AM. Students will conclude their school day at 1:35 PM. This shift aims to standardize the academic day. Consequently, District Education Officers must ensure all institutions strictly follow this new schedule without deviation.
The government has introduced specific requirements for student development. Morning assemblies must now include moral training, speeches on diverse topics, and practical activities. Specifically, schools must dedicate three days to speeches and three days to educational skits every week. These activities focus on the moral education of students.
Furthermore, school heads must organize “Bazm-e-Adab” (a literary gathering) on the last working day of every week. Following this event, staff members will utilize the final three periods of the day for administrative duties. These duties include conducting staff meetings and completing all school registers.
The notification also addresses potential staffing shortages. If a school faces a teacher shortage or a teacher takes a long-term leave, school heads and subject specialists must take over those classes. This ensures that student learning remains uninterrupted. Finally, District Education Officers hold the responsibility for enforcing these rules. They must monitor schools to ensure strict implementation of the new school timings and activity list.
