New Traffic Fines and Rules Announced for Motorcyclists in Rawalpindi

Following the launch of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s (PSCA) e-challan system in Rawalpindi, authorities have introduced a comprehensive set of new traffic rules and fines for motorcyclists aimed at improving road safety and enforcing discipline on city roads.

Under the new regulations, bikers must ensure both front and rear indicators are functional, and wearing helmets is strictly mandatory. Non-standard, fake, or tampered number plates will invite heavy fines and legal action. Plates must match the official Excise Department design and remain clearly visible.

Officials confirmed that riding in fast-track lanes, using fake or obscured number plates, or driving without a valid license or CNIC will result in strict penalties or FIRs.

“The purpose of these measures is to ensure compliance and promote safer road behavior through technology-based enforcement,” a PSCA spokesperson said.

Car owners have also been cautioned against over-speeding, wrong parking, and tinted windows, as such violations will now be tracked and fined through the e-challan system.

The PSCA stated that the initiative is part of its broader effort to create a safe, smart, and disciplined traffic environment in Rawalpindi through digital monitoring and real-time enforcement.
