NHA Ensures Major Highways Open Amid Snowfall in North Balochistan and Chitral

Published by

The National Highway Authority (NHA) spokesperson has issued an official update regarding the ongoing snow clearance and road restoration operations in North Balochistan and the Chitral regions. The authority has mobilized all available resources and field personnel to ensure that major national highways remain accessible despite the challenging weather conditions.

In the North Balochistan region, specifically along the N-50 highway, intensive clearance operations are underway in the Kuchlak, Khanozai, and Kan Mehtarzai sections. Although light snowfall continues to persist from Kuchlak to Muslim Bagh, the highway remains open for all types of vehicular traffic due to the continuous efforts of the NHA teams. Maintenance work remains focused on the Kan Mehtarzai to Muslim Bagh stretch, where crews at Camps 5 and 6 are working tirelessly to keep the route clear of accumulated snow.

To assist commuters during this emergency, the NHA has also initiated rescue operations between Kuchlak and Kan Mehtarzai. Heavy cranes have been deployed to recover vehicles that have become stuck in the snow, ensuring the safety of passengers. Similarly, on the N-25 (Quetta-Chaman Highway), personnel and heavy machinery have been placed on high alert at Sheila Bagh and Khojak Top following the commencement of snowfall to prevent any traffic disruptions.

Furthermore, a significant milestone has been achieved on the N-145 (Chitral-Garam Chashma Road). The route, which was previously blocked by heavy snowfall and multiple avalanches, has been successfully cleared and reopened for all traffic. NHA authorities strongly advise travelers to exercise caution, maintain their vehicles for winter conditions, and cooperate fully with the field staff stationed along the highways.
