No More Endless Scrolling Gmails Search Is Now Smarter

Google is releasing an updated version of Gmail with search capabilities enabled by artificial intelligence. The goal is to make it easier for users to discover the emails they need faster. A “most relevant” search results feature, which ranks results according to recency, commonly clicked emails, and common contacts, is introduced in the update.

For Gmail, this is a big change from the old search methods that used keywords and chronological order.

Personalized Search Experience

Google asserts that this update will make Gmail more intelligent in determining the user’s intent while searching, leading to faster inbox filtering. To further customize their search experience, users can change between “most relevant” and “most recent” results.

The update can be accessed on the web and through the Gmail app on Android and iOS, and it is rolling out worldwide to personal Google accounts. The capability will eventually be available to commercial users as well, according to Google’s plans.

Gmail search Most relevant

Even if Gmail’s search now has some AI smarts, it still can’t match the power of a fully fledged natural language search. It seems the technology still uses keywords to limit results instead of deciphering complicated inquiries or comprehending natural speech.

You may ask Gemini to search your inbox for a specific piece of information, but more advanced features are already available to Google One AI Premium members. It is expected that Google will eventually make similar features available to a wider range of users.

This is a step towards Google’s larger goal of integrating Gemini AI throughout all of its products and services. Workspace products like Docs and Sheets have seen multiple AI-powered tweaks in the past year, and the firm has also been experimenting with AI-driven improvements to Search.
