NordVPN has rolled out a new feature designed to help users avoid scam phone calls. The company is introducing call protection for Android users across several regions. The feature is now available in the US, the UK, the EU, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Australia, and Canada. It alerts users about possible scam calls before they answer the phone.
The new system checks incoming numbers to judge their reputation. According to the official press release, the tool analyzes various intelligence sources to determine whether a number may be linked to scams. If the system detects suspicious activity, the user will see a warning message next to the caller’s phone number. This alert appears before the call is picked up, which gives users time to avoid risky calls.
Importantly, the feature works directly inside the NordVPN app. Users who already have the app do not need to download anything else. In addition, call protection continues to work even when the VPN connection is turned off. However, the feature is only available to people who have a premium NordVPN subscription.
Setting up the tool takes only a few steps. First, open the Threat Protection section inside the NordVPN Android app. Then turn on the call protection toggle. After that, the app will guide users to their phone settings to complete the process. Users must enable the required permissions inside the Android settings menu.
Once all settings are turned on, the app confirms that call protection is active. From that point forward, the system will monitor incoming calls and warn users about numbers that may be connected to scams.
