Published by

The University of Punjab has officially released the holiday schedule for Eid al-Fitr 2026 along with its Spring recess. The university will close from Friday, March 20, to Monday, March 23, giving students and staff time to celebrate the festival. After Eid, teaching departments and colleges will observe a Spring break until Friday, March 27, reopening on Monday, March 30.

According to the official notification, administrative staff in teaching departments, institutes, centers, and colleges will resume duties from March 24, 2026, even as students remain on break. This ensures smooth university operations while allowing students to enjoy the festival and rest before returning to their academic activities.

Moon Sighting and Eid Prediction

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has stated that the new moon of Shawwal 1447 AH will not be visible anywhere in Pakistan on March 19, 2026. The new moon is expected to be born at 6:23 AM PST on that day, with a calculated age of 12 to 13 hours at various observatories, too early for visual sighting.

Based on this astronomical analysis, Eid-al-Fitr 2026 is likely to be observed across Pakistan on March 21, 2026. However, the final declaration rests with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which confirms the sighting officially.
