OGDC Discovers New Gas and Condensate Reserves at Dars West-3 Well

Published by

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has announced a fresh gas and condensate discovery at the Dars West-3 development well in Sindh, reinforcing Pakistan’s domestic hydrocarbon potential and supporting efforts to boost local energy supplies.

According to a filing at the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the Dars West-3 well in Tando Allah Yar district was drilled to a depth of 2,100 meters in the Lower Goru Formation’s C-Sand reservoir.

During testing, the well produced:

  • 9.70 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas
  • 580 barrels per day of condensate with a wellhead flowing pressure of 1,725 psi.

OGDC said pipeline installation is underway to connect the well to the KPD–TAY processing plant. After processing, gas will be injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company transmission network for supply to consumers.

The Dars West field is operated by OGDC with a 77.5% working interest, while Government Holdings Private Limited holds the remaining 22.5% stake.

The successful test confirms strong hydrocarbon potential in the Lower Goru C-Sand reservoirs of the Dars West area. The company said the discovery reflects its ongoing focus on reservoir evaluation and field development to increase domestic oil and gas production and reduce reliance on imports.
