OnePlus has opened registrations for the ColorOS 17 Open Beta, giving users early access to its upcoming software. The move comes after Oppo confirmed that ColorOS 17 will launch globally on October 13.
However, the beta is not the final version, so users may encounter bugs and other issues. Registrations opened on October 9 and will remain available until October 12, just one day before the official launch.
Eligible users should back up their data before installing the update. Those who want to return to OxygenOS 16 can use OnePlus’ rollback package. However, the process will erase all data stored on the device.
The update also marks a major change for OnePlus 15 users. Once the final build arrives, the device will permanently move to ColorOS, ending its use of OxygenOS.
Oppo has shared few details about the new software so far. The company has teased features such as “fluid motion” and “refined visuals,” hinting at improved animations and a refreshed user interface.
More details about ColorOS 17 are expected to be revealed during the October 13 launch. The announcement should clarify what changes users can expect beyond the visual updates.
