OnePlus is preparing for a major launch on December 17, when it will introduce the 15R alongside the Pad Go 2 and Watch Lite. As anticipation builds, the company has now confirmed one of the phone’s biggest upgrades. The 15R carries a 7,400 mAh battery, which is the largest ever in any OnePlus device released outside China. Inside China, the newly announced Ace 6T still leads with its 8,300 mAh battery.
The company says the 15R battery supports 80W SuperVOOC wired charging. OnePlus also claims the battery will retain at least 80% of its original capacity after four years of use. The cell uses an anode with 15% silicon content, a change that should improve efficiency and thermal performance.
Earlier teasers confirmed more of the hardware. The 15R runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Its AMOLED display delivers a “1.5K” resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and reaches 1,800 nits in High Brightness Mode. The phone will also ship with OnePlus’ new Plus Mind features and the dedicated Plus Key, which aims to speed up navigation and multitasking.
