OnePlus is preparing a major shakeup in its mid-range lineup, and the first sign of that shift arrived today in China. The company has unveiled the OnePlus Ace 6T, a device that also sets the foundation for the global OnePlus 15R. The phone enters the market with new hardware, a refreshed design, and a headline chip that debuts for the first time on any smartphone.
The Ace 6T is the first device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Qualcomm has shared very little about this processor. While many expect it to slot below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, its exact position against the earlier Snapdragon 8 Elite is still unclear. Even so, OnePlus is using this launch to set expectations for its next wave of performance-focused mid-range phones.
The phone features a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It also gets an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. OnePlus has paired the display with a dual-camera setup on the back. It includes a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide unit, while the front holds a 32MP selfie camera.
The device carries IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings and uses a vapor chamber for cooling. Power comes from a large 8000mAh battery supported by 100W fast charging. In China, the phone ships with ColorOS 16.
OnePlus is offering the Ace 6T in black, green, and purple. The metal frame uses micro-arc oxidation similar to the OnePlus 15. The black and green variants use a silky glass back, while the purple model switches to fiberglass.
This launch also hints at what the global OnePlus 15R will look like. The 15R appears to follow the Ace 6T closely instead of the earlier Ace 6. The only visible change so far is the removal of the purple color for global markets. Whether OnePlus plans more regional differences is still unclear.
