More than 50 passports carrying foreign visas were stolen from a delivery bag belonging to a leading private courier company in Rawalpindi, putting the overseas travel and employment plans of dozens of Pakistanis at risk.
According to media reports, the bag had been dispatched from Karachi to a travel agent. Besides the passports, it contained important documents, mobile phones, parcels and other valuables belonging to other citizens.
The passports reportedly held visas for Saudi Arabia and other countries. Several of the affected individuals had collectively spent millions of rupees to secure visas and jobs abroad.
The incident has raised concerns about how the courier company handles and secures consignments, particularly sensitive documents such as passports and visas.
